M3 Through the Valley of the Black Ernz
General information
This moderate tour is mainly characterized by a 15 km long but steady climb at the beginning. The tour starts at the parking area of the youthhostel at the lake of Echternach. After a short passage through the abbey town, you will ride on a flat part that leads along the Sûre until Grundhof. From Grundhof, the tour leads through the valley of the Black Ernz and next to the waterfall "Schiessentumpel", a popular picturesque photo motif. On this section, you climb moderately but continuously. After the effort of the first part, you will enjoy from Graulinster onwards a comfortable descent through several small villages until Mertert. The last kilometers of the tour lead next to the Sûre until Echternach.
