Local hiking trail - E1

General information

This famous hike begins at the Basilica in the heart of the city of Echternach (or at the Amphitheater parking space in Berdorf). It goes steeply uphill to the Trooskneppchen (1) viewpoint. Shortly afterwards you reach the Wollefsschlucht (2), then the Aesbach valley (3). In the further course, the path follows the spectacular rock formations Labyrinth, Perekop (4), Malakoff and Chipkapass. Halfway through it crosses the Huellee/Hohllay (5) cave, which used to be a mill quarry. After a few steps you reach the Breechkaul (6), an open-air stage set up as an amphitheatre. After passing the rock formation Wëllkeschkummer and cross the Halsbaach stream to reach the pavilion Geierslee (7). From the viewpoint, the descent to the Aesbach valley begins. Parallel to the old mill canal, the local hiking trail E1 leads back to the starting point in Echternach.
