Guided tour Abbey Museum Echternach

The most efficient period of the world famous Echternach scriptorium dates back to the 11th century when European kings and emperors ordered their books in Echternach. During that time, the Golden Book of Echternach was created: the Codex Aureus Epternacensis. The museum features high-quality facsimiles which give an impression of the skillfull monks’ art. Another section of the museum is dedicated to life during the 8th century, the time of St. Willibrord, founder of Echternach.
