As part of the Focus Musique Classique, Kultur LX invites international experts to get to know four outstanding artists who have been selected by a jury of experts. The showcases and concerts not only offer musical highlights, but also space for encounters, exchange and the development of new collaborations.

Matis Grisó, born in Luxembourg in 2006, started playing the cello at the age of four. He studied at the Luxembourg City Conservatory in the class of Claude Giampellegrini, where he received the Diplôme du Prix Supérieur with distinction in 2022. Since 2020, Matis has been taking cello lessons at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Marie Hallynck. In September 2024, he also began a bachelor's degree in jazz electric bass with Michel Hatzigeorgiou.

Matis Grisó is a multiple prizewinner of the Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes and winner of 1st prize at the Concours de violoncelle Woluwe-Saint-Pierre in Brussels (2017). In 2024, he was awarded 3rd prize at the 9e Concours International de Musique Triomphe de l'art and 2nd prize at the Concours de Musique Breughel in Brussels, 1st prize at the Concours International Léopold Bellan in Paris and the Grand Prix Anne et Françoise Groben in Luxembourg.
In October 2023, he was awarded the Prix Georges Octors by the City of Brussels.
In the 2024/25 season, Matis made his debut as a soloist with both the Luxembourg Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, with whom he performed Saint-Saëns' and Schumann's Cello Concerto at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. He also completed an internship with both orchestras and took part in projects under the direction of Gustavo Gimeno, Dirk Brossé and Gast Waltzing, among others.

Previous performances include concerts with the Musiq3 Festival Orchestra (double concerto for two cellos in G minor, RV 531, Vivaldi), the Orchestra of the Professors of the Conservatoire of the City of Luxembourg (2nd Cello Concerto in D major, Haydn) and with the Grand Ducal Military Music (Casanova, Johan de Meij).
During numerous master classes in Luxembourg, Germany, France, Belgium and Italy, Matis Grisó received valuable musical impulses from Mikhail Nemtsov, Cristoforo Pestalozzi, Gustav Rivinius, Gary Hoffman, Daniel Müller-Schott, Johannes Moser, Anssi Karttunen, Roel Dieltiens, Raphael Wallfisch and Ophélie Gaillard.
