Resilience as the key to the future
Storing water, strengthening forests, connecting people
The climate crisis, biodiversity loss and water scarcity pose enormous challenges for our society. How can we become more resilient – ecologically, socially and infrastructurally?
Under the title ‘Resilience as the key to the future’., this event brings together people from different disciplines and regions to discuss the big questions of the future.
The focus is on water: how can we ensure a sustainable supply of high-quality drinking water? What strategies can be used to make rivers more climate-resilient and redesign entire regions as ‘sponge landscapes’? This perspective is complemented by international perspectives, for example on Luxembourg in a world with +2 °C and +3 °C warming.
Another central theme is forests. Intact forests are essential for water retention, biodiversity and the microclimate. How can they be strengthened, protected and managed sustainably?
But resilience is also about education, participation and community. That is why the role of communication, cooperation between different population groups and the creation of new networks is also highlighted.
.
This year's excursion takes us to Consdorf, a forest area where successful measures to strengthen ecological resilience have already been implemented – a place where the future is being lived in the present.
Together, we want to learn from each other, show concrete ways forward and encourage people to actively shape resilience – both locally and globally.
