Where? 6225 Altrier

Altrier lies on the edge of extensive forests and, with its rural surroundings, traces of history and varied hiking trails, is a great starting point for discovering the Mullerthal Region.

Altrier is a peaceful village in the municipality of Bech, located on the edge of extensive forests, including the Marscherwald. Fields and woodland shape the surroundings and give the village its rural character.

Altrier is particularly known for the “Bildchen”, an approximately 500-year-old oak tree with a statue of the Virgin Mary inside its hollow trunk. Every year, a traditional candlelight procession takes place here on the eve of 15 August.

Traces of earlier settlement can also be discovered in the surroundings. An ancient burial mound is located near Altrier and can be seen along ExtraTour C of the Mullerthal Trail. This hiking route connects Altrier with Bech and leads through the municipality’s varied woodland and cultural landscape.

Further hiking opportunities include Local Hiking Trail B9 and the Auto-Pédestre hiking trail Altrier. The trails lead through fields and forests and connect Altrier with other villages and landscapes around Bech.
