Frequently Asked Questions

Hiking

How long is the Mullerthal Trail?

The Mullerthal Trail is 112 km long and consists of three main routes: Route 1, Route 2 and Route 3, as well as the ExtraTours.

Can I hike the Mullerthal Trail all year round?

Yes. The Mullerthal Trail is accessible all year round. During the autumn and winter months, some sections can be very slippery due to fallen leaves or ice. We therefore recommend wearing hiking boots.

Which hikes are suitable for children?

  • A hike around Lake Echternach – approximately 3 km and mostly flat.
  • The first part of the hike starting at Camping Martbusch in Berdorf towards the Wanterbaach and Sieweschloeff.

Is it safe to hike in the forest during hot and dry weather?

Prolonged periods of heat and drought increasingly weaken our forests. In addition to the increased risk of forest fires, there is also a higher risk of falling branches or trees breaking. Even trees that appear healthy may have damage that is not visible from the outside.

Please follow these recommendations:

  • Stay particularly alert during walks and other activities in the forest, especially after storms or prolonged dry periods.
  • During breaks, choose open areas away from trees whenever possible.
  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Always respect temporary closures and any safety measures in place.
  • Avoid activities that may create sparks or cause fires.

In the event of an accident, please call the emergency services on 112.
