Dillingen is idyllically situated on the Sauer and combines the peaceful atmosphere of a small village with opportunities for hiking, cycling and canoeing in the Mullerthal Region.
Dillingen is a small village in the municipality of Beaufort, situated directly on the Sauer, which forms the border between Luxembourg and Germany here. Its location in the river valley, surrounded by wooded slopes and open landscapes, gives the village its distinctive character. A bridge across the Sauer connects Dillingen with Wallendorf in Germany.
The surroundings are particularly well suited for exploring on foot. The Local Hiking Trail B18 starts in Dillingen and initially climbs into the forest. Along the way, hikers can enjoy beautiful views of the Sauer and the surrounding landscape. The trail then leads through the idyllic Millebaach valley and follows the Sauer back to Dillingen.
Dillingen is also an interesting starting point for cyclists. The Three Rivers Cycle Route PC3 passes through the village and follows the Moselle, Sauer and Our along the German-Luxembourg border. Around Dillingen, the route runs directly through the Sauer Valley.
Its location on the river also offers the opportunity to experience the landscape from the water. During the season, canoe and kayak trips on the Sauer are available from Dillingen.
