Folkendange is a small rural village in the Aerenzdallgemeng. Surrounded by fields, meadows and forests, the village offers a peaceful atmosphere and a pleasant starting point for exploring the lesser-known landscapes in the north of the Mullerthal Region on foot.
The Local Hiking Trail E9 starts directly next to the chapel. This circular route of around six kilometres crosses the Keiwelbaach stream and passes the remains of an old wash fountain before continuing past Moserhaff and into the forest. Along the open sections, hikers can enjoy beautiful views over the Sauer Valley and towards Eppeldorf.
Traces of local history also characterise this small village. The Saint-Mathias Chapel forms part of Folkendange’s historic heritage and is also a starting point for hikes through the surrounding countryside.
