Hersberg is a small village in the municipality of Bech, located on the edge of extensive woodland, including the Marscherwald forest. Forests, valleys and the rocky landscapes characteristic of the Mullerthal Region shape the surroundings of the village.
A special attraction is the “Bildchen”, an old pilgrimage site between Hersberg and Altrier. A statue of the Virgin Mary can be found inside the hollow trunk of an approximately 500-year-old oak tree. The veneration of the Virgin Mary at this site probably dates back to an event in 1731. A procession to the Bildchen still takes place every year on 15 August.
The small chapel of Hersberg is also part of the village’s historic character. Various trails around Hersberg lead through the peaceful forests and rural landscapes, offering opportunities to explore the surroundings on foot.
With its combination of nature, rural atmosphere and religious heritage, Hersberg reveals a particularly peaceful and authentic side of the Mullerthal Region.
