Bech
Where? L-6230 Bech
Bech combines rural charm with varied nature experiences. Forests, sandstone rocks and the former railway line around Becher Gare make the village a versatile starting point for hiking and cycling tours.
Bech is the main village of the municipality of the same name and lies amid the green landscape of the Mullerthal Region. Forests, open plateaus and the sandstone rocks characteristic of the region shape the surroundings and offer many opportunities to explore nature on foot or by bike.
A special place is Becher Gare, the former railway station of Bech. The “Charly”, the narrow-gauge railway that once connected Luxembourg City with Echternach, used to stop here. Today, the preserved station building and the former railway tunnel are reminders of this period. The old Becher Gare now houses, among other things, a microbrewery and a restaurant.
Several hiking trails lead through the varied landscape around Bech. Local hiking trail B6 starts at Becher Gare and follows the Sauerbaach, passing through forests and impressive rock formations. The children's hiking trail “In the Footsteps of Charly” also starts here and features 13 discovery and activity stations along its approximately five-kilometre route.
Bech is also an interesting starting point for cyclists and mountain bikers. The approximately 13-kilometre Bech mountain bike trail leads through forests and rocky landscapes, across open plateaus and partly along the former railway line. At Becher Gare, there is also a short mountain bike trail specifically for children as well as a forest playground.
