Saint Mary Theresia Monument – Osweiler

Where? An der Zëmpelbaach, L-6570 Osweiler

Along the road from Echternach to Osweiler, at “An der Zëmpelbaach”, stands a stone monument dedicated to Saint Mary Theresa, built around 1930 by the Schaminé-Weydert family in gratitude for their son’s recovery.

Next to the road from Echternach to Osweiler, in a place called ‘an der Zëmpelbaach’, there is a well-kept site on the left with a stone monument to Saint Mary Theresa.

Around 1930, the Schaminé-Weydert family, owners of the former Hotel Schaminé in Osweiler, created this site. The mother of the seriously ill Jos. Schaminé made a vow that she would erect a memorial if her son recovered.

To the right of the stone monument, a little further away, a stone cross was erected ‘in gratitude to Mary and Joseph’. To the left of it, a former cemetery cross belonging to the Schamine-Weydert family was erected.
