Bibi Vaplan – SWITZERLAND

Bibi Vaplan is one of those artists who consistently elude categorization. She first became known through genre‑crossing music‑theatre productions, and she is now expanding her work into the field of literature.

With Nektarmond 37, Vaplan presents her debut novella - a poetic and idiosyncratic work that creates a magical, slightly absurd moon‑world while exploring themes of loneliness, time, and the search for meaning. Parallel to its publication, a stage production of the same name is being developed, combining text, music, and visual art. Unlike a traditional reading, the production translates central motifs of the novella into sound and image.

Musically, Vaplan operates beyond clear genre boundaries, moving between pop, contemporary music, jazz, and punk. Her characteristic bilingualism remains central: while the written texts appear in German, the songs are composed in Romansh. Nektarmond 37 is therefore less a project than a carefully expanded artistic cosmos.

D’Cojellico’s Jangen – LUXEMBOURG

D’Cojellico’s Jangen consists of six musician friends who came together in 2011 for the stage production “Schlüpferesch - en Hommage un déi Wëll Zwanzeger Joren” at the Grevenmacher City Theatre.

Their aim was to interpret original arrangements by the Comedian Harmonists - including classics such as Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus, Veronika, der Lenz ist da, and Das ist die Liebe der Matrosen - and of course De Cojellico’s Jang.

The great success, the fun, and the shared enthusiasm motivated the ensemble to continue developing both the group and its musical style. Their favorite focus has since become Luxembourgish mood songs and Schlager, newly arranged for the quintet and its pianist - essentially in the spirit of the Comedian Harmonists: sophisticated, atmospheric, yet accessible.
