Osweiler

Where? L-6570 Osweiler

Osweiler is a rural village in the municipality of Rosport-Mompach, surrounded by fields, meadows and forests. Hiking trails, Second World War memorial sites and the Tudor Tour invite visitors to explore the surrounding area.

Osweiler is located in the eastern part of the Mullerthal Region, in a varied landscape of fields, meadows and woodland. The village offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling.

One of its highlights is the approximately 8.9 km long local circular hiking trail R9, which starts at the former school in the village centre. Entitled “In the Footsteps of the Second World War”, the trail leads to four memorial sites in and around Osweiler. These include the monument at “um Schänkebierg”, a memorial in the Grussebësch forest and places of remembrance at the former school and inside the church.

The approximately 11.8 km long Auto-Pédestre Osweiler circular hiking trail also starts in the village, at the “a Lannen” car park. The varied route passes through forests and open countryside, offering beautiful views along the way. It also passes the Frombuerger Haff farm, where fresh regional products are available from a small self-service shop.

For cyclists, the signposted Tudor Tour passes directly through Osweiler. It connects the village with Mompach via Herborn and, in the opposite direction, leads down towards Echternach Lake.
