Description
Along the Sauer and Moselle rivers, this moderate route invites you to discover the beautiful landscapes of the border region between Luxembourg and Germany.
Starting at Echternach Lake, this route follows the border river Sauer for the first 25 km. On this section, you can either pedal hard to move quickly or take it easier to enjoy the landscape on both the Luxembourgish and the German sides. After a short section along the Moselle, the route leaves the river valley at Mertert and you will have to overcome 220 meters of elevation over the next 25 km. The first part of this section passes through the beautifully situated Syr Valley. From Biwer, the route continues on little-traveled country roads and through small villages such as Boudler and Berbourg to Herborn. Before the village of Osweiler, the last 5 km descend towards Echternach Lake.
