Description
Discover the ruins of Heringer Castle located deep in the forest!
With its 3.6 km, this hike is also suitable for those who don't have much time or only want to hike shorter distances. The path winds along narrow trails alongside the Kaasselbaach deep into the Heringer Forest.
A highlight of this hike is certainly the ruin of Heringer Castle. The former refuge castle served the Heringer knights as a safe place of refuge. Today, the wall remains carved into the rocks invite you to discover and explore.

Directions
From the starting point at the Heringer Millen parking lot, the path initially follows the road for a while and then turns right into the forest. From here, the path runs through the forest, parallel to the Kaasselbaach. The path is lined with the sandstone rocks typical of the region. The trail constantly goes slightly uphill until about two-thirds of the way, where the highest point of the hike is reached. From here, it goes slightly downhill again. The highlight of the path awaits on the last stretch. Here, the ruins of an old refuge castle invite exploration. From Heringer Castle, the path leads back to the starting point.
