For around ten years, the vocal ensemble Ambitus has been regularly organizing concerts at the Trifolion, the cultural center of the Echternach region. Traditionally, the program features soloists and orchestra, as well as works beyond the usual repertoire. (A number of significant works have already been performed in Echternach, such as Canto General by Mikis Theodorakis, The Creation. by Joseph Haydn, Petite Messe Solennelle. by Gioachino Rossini, double-choir masses by Josef Rheinberger and Ralph Vaughan Williams, as well as Le Roi David by Arthur Honegger, ...)
This year, the program is dedicated to royal music, featuring the Coronation Anthems by George Frideric Handel and the famous Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. The selection of these works was inspired by the change of power in the Grand Ducal House exactly one year ago.
As always, the orchestra Estro Armonico will accompany the singers with its expertise and rich musical experience. For many years, this ensemble of professional musicians, under the influence of its founder Guy Goethals, has collaborated with choirs to create concerts of the highest quality.
The lineup of soloists also promises a special musical experience: Gerlinde Sämann, the internationally renowned German soprano known for her flexible and refined musicality; the Luxembourgish countertenor Jeff Mack, a guarantee of authentic interpretation of Baroque music; the French tenor Benoît Porcherot, who pursues a versatile career as both a soloist and choral singer in leading French ensembles and as a choir director; and finally, the Luxembourgish bass-baritone Franz Schilling, who is passionately dedicated to all facets of music.
