For more than 500 years, the Vienna Boys Choir has stood for musical excellence, purity of sound, and one of the oldest living musical traditions in Europe. Its roots go back to 1296, when a boys’ choir was first mentioned at the Viennese court. The decisive foundation was laid in 1498 by Emperor Maximilian I, when he moved his court musicians to Vienna - marking the beginning of a unique success story.

At Trifolion, the Bruckner Choir, one of the four touring choirs of the Vienna Boys Choir, will be performing. In the 2025/26 school year, the choir consists of 23 young singers from around the world - from Vienna and the Austrian provinces, as well as from China, France, Japan, Romania, South Korea, and Ukraine. This cultural diversity also shapes the ensemble’s open and vibrant sound.

The Bruckner Choir is led by Kapellmeister Manolo Cagnin, who has been responsible for the choir’s artistic profile since 2008. Born in Italy, he studied violin, choral music, conducting, and composition in Venice, Milan, and Leipzig, and served as assistant to Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller. With great musical experience and personal dedication, he accompanies the boys on international tours, recordings, film projects, and special concert productions.

For Manolo Cagnin, the human element lies at the heart of music: every voice, every personality contributes to the living overall sound. He places particular importance on direct contact with the audience - because, in his view, music is a gift meant to touch and connect.
