Bomb of World War II in Consdorf

Where? CR137, L-6211 Consdorf

The memorial consists of a defused US bomb that was dropped by an American aircraft, a B17F Flying Fortress bomber, in the fields near Consdorf in October 1944.

The bomb had not detonated in time and the pilot was already on his way back from his mission in Germany.

The bomb weighed 907 kg and contained 447 kg of tritonal. The other bombs dropped by the pilot caused 6 metre deep bomb craters in the fields.

This bomb was dug up and defused in October 1990. It was subsequently erected here in 1994 as a memorial together with two information boards. (Text: Erinnerungsatlas.eu)
